iFLT
    international Forum on Language Teaching is a non-profit organization of teachers providing comprehensive, hands-on training to each other in comprehension-based methods. The group offers summer conferences. For 2010 the summer conference will be in Los Alamitos, CA. You can’t beat the price for what you get. http://www.iflt.org/

    American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages - if you are a foreign language teacher concerned about the future of language instruction in the US, you should belong to this organization. They developed and publish the “Performance Guidelines for K-12 Learners”, which should guide every teachers instruction and assessment, as well as other titles. http://www.actfl.org

AATG
    American Association of Teachers of German - if you teach German and are concerned about the future of German language instruction in the US, you should belong to this organization. They offer support in many areas.
